Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP)
A little extra help to stay independent at home
The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) is an Australian Government–funded program that gives older people a small amount of practical, entry-level support so they can continue living safely and confidently in their own homes. At TriCare Services, we believe independence is not just a goal — it’s a foundation for dignity, wellbeing, and quality of life.
Our commitment is to walk alongside older people, providing just the right level of support without taking over. We focus on empowering you to stay in control of your daily routines, remain connected to your community, and feel secure in the place that means the most: your home. Whether it’s help with domestic tasks, keeping your garden safe and tidy, or providing reliable transport, our role is to make life easier while preserving your autonomy and choice.
TriCare Services is an approved CHSP provider, supporting older people across North, East and West Melbourne and Gippsland. We focus on practical, reliable assistance that maintains your independence, rather than taking over your life.
Our CHSP services
Under CHSP, TriCare Services currently provides three key supports:
Domestic Assistance
Everyday household tasks can become harder over time, but a bit of support can make a big difference. Our Domestic Assistance can include:
General house cleaning (vacuuming, mopping, dusting, wiping surfaces)
Bathrooms and kitchens (toilets, showers, benches, sinks)
Light laundry tasks (washing, hanging and bringing in washing, folding)
Basic household tidying and rubbish removal
The goal is simple: a clean, safe, and comfortable home environment that supports your health, dignity, and independence.
Gardening & Home Maintenance
A well-maintained home and garden isn’t just about appearances – it’s about safety and reducing risks. Our Gardening and Home Maintenance support may include:
Lawn mowing and basic garden tidy-ups
Sweeping paths, porches and outdoor areas
Raking leaves, light weeding and pruning
Minor, practical home maintenance tasks that help reduce hazards
We focus on the essential jobs that keep your home safe, functional, and easier for you to move around.
Transport
Staying connected to your community is just as important as staying safe at home. Our CHSP transport service can help you get to:
GP and specialist appointments
Hospital or allied health appointments
Shopping centres and essential errands
Social visits, local groups, and community activities
We provide reliable, door-to-door transport so you can get where you need to go, on time and with confidence.
Who can access CHSP with TriCare Services?
You may be able to access CHSP if you:
Are aged 65 or over (50 or over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people), and
Are living at home and need some support to remain there safely.
Services are subsidised by the Australian Government, and most people pay only a small contribution depending on their financial circumstances.
Why choose TriCare Services for CHSP?
At TriCare Services, we bring our “can-do” approach and strong governance to every CHSP service we deliver.
Consistent, reliable workers – carefully selected staff who respect your home, culture, and preferences

Our role is not just to “do tasks,” but to help you live the life you choose, in the place you know best: your own home.
